PONNANIYAARU DAM - A LOOK

                Ponaniyaru dam usually spelt as "Ponnaniyaaru Dam" is one of the most important rural tourist spot that one should never miss to see. It is located about 9 km from vaiyampatti.

It is about 10min of travel from Vaiyampatti.

• Town bus no 2 (popularly known as dam bus)

Details

This dam was opened on 13.07.1975 by then Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi. 

Opening culvert

This dam holds two districts - Karur and Trichy. Reservoir part belongs to Karur and Water outlet part marks Trichy region.

Exact spot

The dam was constructed near the hills called as semmalai and perumalmalai belongs to kadavur taluk (Karur district).
